Medical gases are gases used for medical diagnosis and life support. Their main applications include: blood gas testing, pulmonary function testing, cardiopulmonary testing, surgical lasers, anesthesia monitoring, respiratory monitoring, medical research, and radioactive tracing.
However, with the booming development of the medical beauty industry, medical gases are also widely used in medical beauty fields such as minimally invasive cosmetic procedures, whitening, and hair transplantation. Huateya calls on the majority of medical beauty industry professionals to not only purchase regular and qualified medical gases but also to strictly abide by the relevant regulations on gas use to ensure gas safety!
Hazards of Medical Gas Confusion
For central gas supply systems, there may be misconnections of pipelines or changes in gas supply terminal connectors during construction. For example, although the gas source supplies oxygen, the gas terminal outlet may release other gases, causing suffocation and death to the user. Non-standard gas supply terminal interfaces, for example, oxygen and other gas terminals having the same outlet, may lead to misconnections during work due to haste or negligence.
For bottled gases, due to similar appearances of gas cylinders and unclear labeling on some cylinders, there is a safety risk of using the wrong gas, which can lead to serious consequences.
Loose connection between pipelines and instruments or cylinders causing gas leaks. Continuous leakage can cause excessively high gas concentrations in enclosed spaces, posing an explosion risk.
Management Measures
Gas central supply system: Gas central supply refers to a centralized supply method where gases commonly used in anesthesia, such as oxygen and nitrous oxide, are delivered through pipelines to ports instead of being stored in dispersed cylinders. There are two types of gas terminal devices in operating rooms: ceiling-mounted pendants and wall-mounted terminal boxes, with one in use and one as a backup. To prevent incorrect gas connections, different gas terminals use standardized, non-interchangeable interfaces. The oxygen pipeline terminal interface can only match the corresponding gas pipeline jack on one end of the anesthesia machine to ensure accurate connection with the anesthesia machine's gas inlet and prevent the use of the wrong gas.
Other
1. Effectively control environmental quality
2. Regularly clean gas cylinders to keep the cylinder surface clean and dry, preventing environmental contamination and meeting disinfection and isolation requirements, effectively controlling environmental quality.
3. Convenient access
4. Gas cylinders are placed in fixed locations, and each type of gas cylinder has corresponding signs and cylinder cover colors for easy access, reducing confusion and effectively preventing errors.
